  78. The copy of MCBase, marked "SHAREWARE version", it is NOT free software! 
  79.  
  80. Evaluation period:  You may EVALUATE this copy of the MCBase database
  81.                     system for a period of 30 days (OR until you've
  82.                     reached the EVALUATION LIMIT for a database, which
  83.                     ever comes first), to determine if it meets your
  84.                     needs. After this trial period you must register (buy)
  85.                     you copy at the given address (see the MCBase order
  86.                     form(s) within the file ORDER.MCB) OR STOP using this
  87.                     software.

  89. Evaluation limit:   While in it's shareware status, MCBase is limiting
  90.                     itself to accomodate (roughly) 30 albums. We are
  91.                     assuming that when you have entered these 30 albums
  92.                     (or whatever database that might be the first to reach
  93.                     it's shareware evaluation limit), you're BEYOND the
  94.                     point of an EVALUATION USAGE.
  95.  
  96. The shareware status is terminated IMMEDIATELY after adding the registration
  97. key to the MCBase database directory.

  102. REGISTER YOUR COPY OF MCBASE
  103.  
  104. REGISTERING (buying) MCBase allows you to use the product after the evaluation
  105. period. Apart from that:
  106.  
  107. - 1) You will receive a registration key, that will remove the shareware
  108.      evaluation limit on the database system. Also, the registration key will
  109.      enable you to upgrade FOR FREE to any other MCBase V2.x update! Just
  110.      copy any new V2.x MCBASE.EXE-file over the old one and add your
  111.      registration key to it. The newly obtained (shareware) version will
  112.      recognize your registration key and will turn itself into a REGISTERED
  113.      MCBASE VERSION.
  114.  
  115.      Further information on the registration key and how to use it, will be
  116.      included with your registration key.
  117.  
  118. - 2) You will receive the most recent version of MCBase on disk in 3
  119.      versions: XT-, AT- and protected mode versions. A manual is included on
  120.      disk as a textfile. Software for MCBase V1.x database conversion will
  121.      also be included.
  122.  
  123. - 3) You will also receive notification of major MCBase updates and you will
  124.      be able to obtain those updates with a 25% DISCOUNT off the normal
  125.      registration price. (Payable amount = Registration price - Preferred
  126.      Payment Discount - Upgrade Discount + S & H costs). Minor updates can be
  127.      obtained for Shipping & Handling costs only: contact the author!
  128.  
  129. - 4) You have priority when questions might occur. Product support is
  130.      available (through the use of postal mail, e-mail or fax) for an
  131.      unlimited period of time.
  132.  
  133. - 5) Registered MCBase users know they are helping to keep SHAREWARE "low
  134.      cost / good quality"-software alive.
  135.  
  136. - 6) If available (*), you will also receive a "Registration Bonus
  137.      Certificate", that entitles you to a copy of JCS Marketing's A2V CD-rom
  138.      ("Best of the Author to Vendor") for only $5.95 plus shipping &
  139.      handling. (JCS Marketing charges as S&H costs: USA= $2, Canada= $3,
  140.      Other= $4).

  149. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE MCBASE WITHOUT REGISTERING!
  150.  
  151. As an unregistered shareware version, MCBase has evaluation limits on the
  152. maximum amount of processable items. As an example: the Album database is
  153. limited to 30 entries (See "evaluation limit"). 
  154.  
  155. Now, if you do NOT register MCBase and you enter MORE than this maximum amount
  156. of albums, you will be notified that your evaluation period has expired and
  157. that you are requested to register, if you wish to continue using MCBase.
  158.  
  159. If you would ignore this request and would continue entering data, the editing
  160. functions (as several others) will soon be disabled. The reason for doing so
  161. is following: This package is SHAREWARE. IT IS NOT FREEWARE!
  162.

  164. MCBASE LICENSE AGREEMENT.
  165.  
  166.                     MCBASE IS NOT FREE SOFTWARE.
  167.  
  168. The registration key, which you receive from us after registering, is STRICTLY
  169. PERSONAL and may not be duplicated other than for backup purposes on your
  170. personal behalf, as it turns the shareware version of MCBase V2.x into a
  171. registered version.
  172.  
  173. By registering your copy of MCBase you do NOT become the owner of this
  174. software package, but you are granted the fully supported use of the MCBase
  175. database system. The MCBase software package will remain the total property of
  176. the author, Harry Doldersum, under all circumstances.
  177.  
  178. Users are granted a limited license to use the SHAREWARE version of MCBase for
  179. a limited evaluation period (See "Evaluation period") in order to determine if
  180. the produkt meets their needs. Any other use of MCBase or use past this period
  181. requires registration. (PLEASE NOTE THAT CONTINUED USE AFTER THE EVALUATION
  182. PERIOD WITHOUT VALID REGISTRATION IS A VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT LAWS).

  184. All users are granted a limited license (and are encouraged) to copy the
  185. shareware version (NOT the registered version: DO NOT SHARE YOUR REGISTRATION
  186. KEY: SHARING YOUR REGISTRATION KEY IS A VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT LAWS) of MCBase
  187. only for the purpose of allowing others to try it, subject to the above
  188. restrictions as well as these:

  190.      MCBase must be distributed in absolutely unmodified form, including all
  191.      program, documentation and other files as found in the original
  192.      MCBxxx.ZIP (xxx = version number) archive file. If you MUST repack the
  193.      ZIP-archive then please make sure you include all files as found in the
  194.      original archive.

  196.      MCBase may not be included with any other product for any reason
  197.      whatsoever without a written license from the author: Harry Doldersum.

  199.      No payment may be charged for MCBase, other than a fee to cover copying
  200.      expences.

  202. Bulletin Board system operators may post the unregistered SHAREWARE version of
  203. MCBase on their BBS for downloading by their users WITHOUT written permission
  204. of the author (= Harry Doldersum) ONLY if the above mentioned conditions are
  205. met, and only if no special fee is necessary to access the MCBase archive
  206. file.

  208. Distributors of SHAREWARE and Public Domain software, MUST obtain written
  209. permission from the author (Harry Doldersum) before distributing MCBase and
  210. must follow the above mentioned conditions (EXCLUSIONS: PLEASE SEE "IMPORTANT
  211. NOTES" BELOW). Permission is almost always granted; this requirement is
  212. necessary to ensure protection for ourselves and MCBase users from
  213. unscrupulous individuals.  Important notes:
